Job Description Summary
Research Specialist A will be responsible for performing experiments related to the study of the metabolome-microbiome interface in cervical remodeling and preterm birth using in vitro approaches. The individual must have experience with cell culture techniques and cellular functional assays as well as RNA, DNA and protein-based assays such as ELISA, Western blots and immunohistochemistry. The candidate should be technically outstanding and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate should be proficient in using computer- based systems including and not limited to Prism, Excel, Word and databases. The ability to work independently and with others is critical.

- Cell culture maintenance and downstream laboratory assays including but not limited to RNA isolation, qPCR, protein quantification, immunohistochemistry, cytotoxicity and permeability assays.
- Communicate effectively with external and internal collaborators, the primary investigator and lab colleagues to plan in vitro and in vivo experiments and to meet scientific needs in a timely fashion.
- Ordering needed reagents/supplies for the laboratory.
- Maintain and update all active laboratory and IACUC protocols including the submission of amendments for protocol or personnel changes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned .
