Position Summary
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences ( CDS ) at the University at Buffalo, invites applications from outstanding scholars with excellent leadership abilities for the position of Department Chair. The Chair will work with the department in support of the university’s goal of becoming a top 25 public research institution. Priorities include overseeing the department’s research, teaching, clinic training and service activities; facilitating collaborative grant writing and research activities, helping to improve research collaborations between academic faculty and the clinic; recruitment of additional senior faculty, and advocating for the department at the college and university levels, as well as externally.
The successful candidate will have an exceptional record of highly cited research and robust external funding, and evidence of administrative leadership abilities, in addition to holding a PhD in speech, language or hearing sciences, or a closely related discipline. The position is at the rank of tenured Full Professor.
Tenured faculty in CDS are expected to obtain external funding to support and conduct research leading to publications; present at professional venues; teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in addition to mentoring students and postdoctoral scholars; and provide service to the department, college, university, and discipline. Teaching release is granted for faculty serving in administrative capacities such as Department Chair.
CDS offers degrees at the undergraduate, masters (speech-language pathology), professional doctorate (audiology) and PhD (speech, language and hearing sciences) levels. The department enjoys a high national ranking by Academic Analytics in terms of its research productivity.
