Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 517472), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, with substantial experience in laboratory-based translational research in neuroscience (in particular neuro-oncology) along with a focused track record of publication and evidence of previous collaborative research with basic and clinical scientists in the area. Post-doctoral experience in basic/clinical studies and a track record of successful competitive research grant applications are essential.

The appointee will conduct independent research and a wide range of basic and advanced laboratory procedures in neuro-oncology. He/She is expected to supervise research postgraduate students, to train research staff and to manage laboratory activities including but not limited to biobanking, purchasing, budgeting, personnel matters and general organization. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
