Position Summary

The mission of the IT Division (ITD) is to develop the long-term infrastructure, services, and strategy necessary to support the University's mission of learning, discovery, and engagement. The IT Division has the stewardship responsibility for core IT assets on campus and the obligation to provide the services, training, and community building necessary to realize the benefits of those investments across the San Diego State University community.

The purpose of the Information Technology Finance and Administration (ITFA) area is to support IT Division's mission by supporting all business functions. ITFA manages IT finances, liaisons with Human Resources, manages IT resources and provides administrative support to all Leadership, Staff and Student Workers. In addition, ITFA provides support to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and other duties of the Office of the CIO.

This position reports to the Director, Resource Management, IT Finance & Administration. This position is responsible for a variety of special project support, procurement, facilities coordination, process management, asset management and analytical duties in support of the overall operations of IT Division.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Specialized Skills Required
  • Ability to work and participate in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
  • Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages
  • Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
  • Ability to effectively handle interpersonal communication.
  • Able to manage multiple projects of various size and duration.
  • Able to analyze information around appropriate topic.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to provide support knowledge in high traffic technical area.
  • Experience with Oracle or other financial systems and Peoplesoft or other HR systems
  • Experience with large projects and supporting the project manager of large projects.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Basic level Excel skills and/ or willingness to learn - Tables, Filters, Pivot Tables, Data Analysis

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,583 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month.

SDSU Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine.

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
