Description:

The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Voice and Acting with rank based on experience. Responsibilities include teaching majors’ courses in Voice, Acting I, and Speech and Dialects. Other course(s) based on expertise may include Acting for the Camera, Fundamentals of Acting, Advanced Acting. Position includes expectations of a vibrant creative and/or scholarly agenda as well as service and leadership.

Rowan’s theater program is known for innovative pedagogy and theater practice, with a focus on cutting edge work in the voice and body. We seek candidates whose teaching and practice reflect our goals in supporting students to become future leaders in theater practice and creation. Ideal candidates are visionary artists/teachers and generous, flexible collaborators. The Department values candidates who have experience working in settings with students from diverse backgrounds, and who possess a strong commitment to contributing to the success of historically underrepresented and underserved students.

Qualifications:

MFA (or equivalent), significant professional theatre experience as an actor, vocal coach and/or director/creator, and strong background in teaching with a focus on undergraduate education. Substantial background in one or more voice and body practices is essential.

The Department of Theatre and Dance offers an interdisciplinary program devoted to the education of students in the contemporary practice of theatre and dance. In close proximity to Philadelphia (20 min) and New York City (90 min), Rowan’s program offers an intensive, physically based, interdisciplinary program devoted to the education of theatre and dance artists. The department is interested in artist/scholars who are resourceful collaborators to deliver a dynamic curriculum for the 21st century. The department has 110 B.A. majors in Acting, Musical Theater, Design/Tech, Dance, Pre-Teaching and Directing. We believe in rigorous training across disciplines and are constantly researching the boundaries between dance and theater.
