The School of Biological Sciences (https://biology.ucsd.edu/), Department of Molecular Biology, invites applications for a faculty position in Molecular Biology and Biology Education for a security of employment-track (tenure equivalent) position at the Assistant Teaching Professor (also referred to as Lecturer with Potential for Security of Employment or LPSOE) level. Candidates must be committed to equity and inclusion in undergraduate and graduate education. The incumbent will join the educational leadership team for Introductory Biology Laboratory, a course-based undergraduate research experience on microbial biodiversity in the environment that serves about 2,000 students each year from many different communities and intersections of identities. In addition to contributing to the ongoing development of Introductory Biology Laboratory and teaching a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses, the incumbent will be expected to advance science education at UC San Diego and beyond through scholarly and creative activities, including but not limited to discipline-based education research, scholarship of teaching and learning, curriculum development and assessment, and educational outreach.

All candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching using evidence-based inclusive instructional practices. In addition to having a clear vision and plan for scholarly and creative activities, successful candidates should have created or contributed to curricula and programs that center the identities and experiences of students and faculty from minoritized communities in the sciences and/or have detailed plans to accomplish such goals.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
