Associate Athletic Director of Equipment Operation (GP193A)

ODU is seeking candidates for an Associate Athletic Director of Equipment Operation (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will report directly to the Deputy Athletic Director of Athletics and will serve as head equipment manager overseeing all equipment functions, assuming all supervisory functions. Develops and implements equipment room policies and procedures for issuing equipment, inventory control, storeroom access and usage, locker issues, laundry controls. Researches and monitors new innovations and upgrades to shoes, apparel, and equipment. Researches and becomes experienced with new and existing safety devices, equipment, and procedures. Acts as liaison with Sports Medicine staff, equipment manufacturers, coaches, and student athletes in regard to new higher performing and safer sports equipment, shoes, and apparel. Ensures National Operating Committee for Standard of Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) standards are met for all required members of the Athletic Equipment Manager Association (AEMA). Interprets equipment contracts and oversees the ordering of contractual apparel and equipment. Oversees preparation of interdepartmental requisitions for equipment purchases. Monitors and records receipts of incoming new equipment. Assists coaches and staff in the meeting of requirements by the NCAA for equipment, logo, and trademark signage rules and regulations. Acts as liaison with Under Armour and all other vendors for all equipment/apparel orders, budgets, inventory, and embellishments to comply with brand standards. Also communicates necessary requirements to manufacturers and athletic apparel distributors..

 

Required Education: Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with experience equivalent to an advanced degree. Some related experience as an Equipment Manager. Certified Equipment Manager by the Athletics Equipment Managers Association.

 


Required Qualifications: Previous experience with keeping accurate records to assist with inventory ordering. Extremely well organized and self-motivated. Ability to multitask and supervise student managers. Working knowledge of how to keep current and updated records for both athletes and staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external counterparts.
