Position Purpose
The Assistant Director serves on the department’s core management staff and has responsibilities that support the mission of the Office of Student Life, including advising student groups and programs, overseeing and supporting large-scale events, supervising student employees, and managing budgets.

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- At least three years of program development experience in an academic or corporate environment, with a high degree of autonomy.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse community with a strong commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility.
- Experience coordinating large-scale events.
- Experience supervising and advising students.
- Awareness of developmental issues of college-age students.
- Experience with student activities and/or event planning and management or related field.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to fostering development of and building strong relationships with students.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and departmental integrity, creativity, collaboration, initiative, inclusive workplaces, and professionalism.
- Experience with benchmarking and creating accurate and informative reports.
- Demonstrated creative planning and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to respond appropriately to pressures, deadlines and frequent changes in priorities and schedules.
- High degree of flexibility, including the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Master’s degree in higher education.
- Familiarity with website copy development; proficiency with communication, social media and/or graphic design tools (Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Canva, Hootesuite and/or Adobe Creative Suite).
- Familiarity with student organization management tools, such as CampusGroups, Engage, or Orgsync
- Experience managing large sets of data and creating accurate and informative reports.
- Interest in and commitment to diversity and inclusion, professional development, and organizational learning initiatives.

- Serves as a source of information on department policies and represents the department to the community and beyond.·
- Maintains high level of collaboration and communication with other offices in Student Life·

- Helps maintain Student Life website.
- Assists in planning and implementing assessment.
- Assist on Office of Student Life projects as needed.
