Job Summary

Career Services encourages applications for a Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter! The Campus Recruiter works with the Peace Corps Recruiting Office to provide information about volunteer service opportunities to the Boulder campus and surrounding communities.

The Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter will increase awareness of Peace Corps Volunteer opportunities on Grounds and in the surrounding community through a variety of recruitment activities, including, but not limited to: delivering a class or club presentations, tabling in public, high-traffic areas on Grounds and/or at career fairs, coordinating and facilitating application workshops and retention events, and developing relationships with key partners at CU Boulder. Depending on campus activities and recruitment events, evening and weekend hours may be required.

The Campus Recruiter has a dual reporting line to the Senior Regional Recruiter for Peace Corps and the Employer Relations Coordinator at the CU Boulder Career Center.

In 2010 and 2011, CU held the #1 position for Peace Corps recruitment in the nation, with 117 and 112 alumni serving abroad! Thanks to the over 2,000 CU graduates who have already answered the call to service since Peace Corps was established in 1961.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Distribute agency approved brochures, posters, visual aids, and other Peace Corps recruitment materials to individuals, groups, associations, faculty, and targeted populations;
  • Complete class talks or presentations including talks;
  • Complete application workshops, which coincide with Peace Corps’ application deadlines;
  • Staff a recruitment table (e.g. university career fairs, other events with similar goals and/or tabling public, high-traffic areas on campus);
  • Coordinate and facilitate retention events (e.g. send-off/welcome back volunteer parties, friends and family events, Peace Corps Week celebrations, and/or RPCV panels);
  • Hold relationship-building meetings (weighted toward early in the fall semester) with key on-campus and community partners, as well as diversity departments and leaders (multicultural/diversity offices, student transfer offices, student life offices, scholarship program offices, club leaders, Greek leaders, etc.) with the intention of gaining access to students;
  • Post and hold at least 2 regular office hours per week to meet with potential and current applicants;
  • Digitally collect leads at events, or as advised by the designated Volunteer Recruitment & Selection (VRS) representative;
  • Input partnership information, meetings and other pertinent details into specific Peace Corps systems, or as advised by the designated VRS representative.
What You Should Know
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
  • This is a temporary, part-time position anticipated to last through May.
  • This position is in a hybrid work situation.
What We Can Offer
  • The pay range is $18.81 - $20.00 per hour.
Benefits
Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave .

What We Require
  • Bachelor’s degree. Appropriate experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
What You Will Need
  • Time-management skills with ability to work with phenomenal autonomy.
  • Organized and able to meet set schedules.
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations in small and large groups.
  • Phenomenal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Ability to advise/communicate on an individual level, as well as public presentation and promotion skills.
  • Experience with virtual meeting platforms like Zoom to conduct virtual meetings with students.
  • Outstanding marketing skills and organizational skills.
  • Outreach and networking experience, including networking opportunities with Peace Corps as with other governmental, community and professional organizations.
  • Experience working with a governmental agency, campus offices and organizations, including Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV).
