    Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program

    The Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program is responsible for visioning, leading, and managing all aspects of the program at Drew University. In collaboration with other administrative leaders, the Director will develop and implement policies and procedures that facilitate the recruitment, admission, retention and graduation of EOF students. In collaboration with staff colleagues in the Center for Academic Excellence, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating quality support programs that facilitate the success of EOF students, both at Drew and after graduation.

    The Director will report to the Associate Provost and Director of the Center for Academic Excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a strategic vision for the EOF program at Drew, aligned with institutional strategic objectives, and ensure that this vision is implemented fully and regularly assessed.

  • Serve as a liaison to the New Jersey state EOF program office, EOF program directors at other campuses, and other off-campus agencies as needed, ensuring that the program operates within the policies and procedures of the applicable governing agencies.

  • Prepare, manage, and oversee the EOF operating budget in accordance with the NJ OSHE regulations and in alignment with programmatic strategic goals and prepare and submit all programmatic reports for internal and external audiences.

  • Provide oversight for all staff planning, development and administration of program components (summer bridge program, tutoring, counseling and financial support).

  • Work in concert with various offices on campus to promote holistic student development through programming and other initiatives and develop, implement, and assess strategies aimed at improving yield, retention, graduation, and post-graduation success of EOF students.

  • Supervise staff members who work as academic counselors and who, in collaboration with academic and campus life staff, monitor students’ academic progress, identify students who need additional support, and intervene to provide that support.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to develop and implement strategies for EOF student recruitment and enrollment, and coordinate follow-up with admitted students to ensure successful matriculation.

  • Collaborate with staff to utilize data to make informed decisions, engage in process improvement, and measure the impact of their work.

  • Serve on University-level committees and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree, preferably in Student Development, Higher Education Administration, Educational or Counseling Psychology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years experience in a college/university EOF program or in programs or services that serve economically and educationally disadvantaged student populations, preferably at the college level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Experience supervising and leading a staff of professionals, and motivating staff and students to create an effective team environment

  • Competence in managing financial resources and program design and implementation

  • Familiarity with institutional research processes, program evaluations, and development and assessment of student learning outcomes

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to interact with a variety of individuals from different academic disciplines and organizations

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments, work under pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google suite, database management, etc.)

  • Knowledge of current practices in student affairs/higher education and student development theories.
