Responsibilities:

Head Volleyball Coach:
  • Serve as counselor, educator and role model in order to foster the physical, intellectual, and social development of students athletes
  • Actively engage in campus-wide activities and in the Student Affairs organization
  • Collaborate with and support other coaches and their teams, and with colleagues across the University community
  • Maximize the physical talent of the volleyball team through quality coaching/teaching and the promotion of teamwork
  • Follows all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA division III, and Carroll University policies and procedures
  • Display professional decorum and serve as a positive ambassador of Carroll University at all times
  • Plan, organize and administer all in-season practice sessions for volleyball
  • Recruit student athletes and work with the Office of Admission to maximize enrollment
  • Retain student athletes at Carroll University and within the volleyball team
  • Hire, manage and evaluate assistant coaches
  • Maintain, manage and update equipment inventories for volleyball
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of all game and practice facilities used by the volleyball team
  • Develop a practice and competition schedule
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements and plans for the volleyball team


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated success in collegiate or high school coaching required



Human Relations Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The ability to enthusiastically and positively promote the University and its intercollegiate programs is essential
  • Ability to function effectively with the coaching staff and the entire campus community as a collaborative, team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs of students and an understanding of their overall educational goals as well of as the academic mission of the University
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model to student athletes and to demonstrate productive, professional behavior at all times
  • Ability to adjust to changing work environment and to respond to changing institutional needs
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the University's insurance policy
  • Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
