Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Athletic Communication Specialist. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletic Communication and is located in River Forest, IL.

The Athletic Communication Specialist coordinates information management for all NCAA Division III sports and develops original content for print and digital publications in support of athletics marketing. This includes marketing, promotion, sponsorship and event management efforts of the department. This position tracks and analyzes media communication for athletics and promotes positive engagement across media platforms.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Write and edit athletic publications
    • Contribute original content including but not limited to writing and editing post-game recaps, feature stories, and staff and athlete bios for the athletics department publications.
    • Cultivate meaningful features on student-athletes, alumni, and other faculty and staff
    • Coordinate and maintain athletic profile sheets to ensure accuracy and current accurate and up to date
  • Coordinate game production and operations
    • Coordinate game day production, including overnight setup, livestream production, and event breakdown
    • Ensure software (NLS, Presto) is current for statistics and live game information as required by NACC and NCAA bylaws
  • Organize and schedule game workers and Graduate Assistants
    • Evaluate GA needs and assignments for home events
    • Schedule GAs to cover athletic events
    • Oversee assignments of game workers
  • Maintain CUC social media accounts and related websites
    • Assist in event promotion on multiple platforms, including the athletics' website
    • Actively monitor and maintain social media accounts. Ensure postings and communications are current and aligned with CUC communication guidelines
    • Communicate relevant information and collaborate with CUC marketing to promote athletics

Skill Sets:

  • Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiar and skilled in various forms of social media
  • Willing and able to collaborate with other members of the athletics department and CUC community
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Minimum Experience Required:

2 years with collegiate athletics

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required
