Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description:
Pratt Institute is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to join its Facilities Management Team at our Brooklyn campus who will perform duties in support of the maintenance and upkeep of Pratt's buildings, grounds and mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment, as well as hands-on experience in housekeeping, and building operations equipment. On a typical day you will be required to:
  • Maintain the general safety and cleanliness of furniture, office equipment, floors, walls, rugs, stairwells, lounges, restrooms, lobbies, elevators, locker, and storage facilities, including replenishing supplies and products as needed
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed or directed. Report any visible damage, malfunctions and accidents involving the Institute's equipment or property to the supervisor
  • Serve as relief truck driver or truck assistant to pick up and deliver packages, furniture, and equipment



This is a Local 311 position. The Rate for this position is $29.5560/hr - $29.5560/hr.


Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required. Completion of course in basic building management is preferred.

Experience: Three years of experience as a building custodian or handyperson. Must have the ability to work well with diverse populations, and demonstrated level of cultural competence.

Knowledge, Skills, and License: FDNY Certificate of Fitness #6 for fuel oil operating (This can be waived at the direction of management when specific work location does not require it). Must have the ability to communicate with public in a positive, courteous and respectful manner. NYS Driver License required.
