New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Media, Culture, and Communication to begin in September 2023. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication. This is a one-year, non-tenure track appointment that is renewable for an additional two years, depending upon department need and satisfactory performance. Position Description: The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication serves over 1000 undergraduate majors. We are interested in candidates who have competence and a strong teaching record in the areas of platform society, critical data studies, and media technologies. Experience with various methods in media studies is preferred.
Responsibilities: Teach three undergraduate courses each semester; facilitate new course design as needed; advise undergraduate honors theses as needed (no more than 2 per year). The successful candidate will be engaged in the intellectual life of the department.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $117,500. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
Qualifications: Doctorate or MFA earned by September 2023 and strong record of teaching required.
