Position Summary:
The Eastern District is seeking applications for a 12-month Associate Extension Educator at the Senior Instructor rank who will provide Extension programming in Bear Lake County (Montpelier) and Caribou County (Soda Springs), Idaho. The Senior Instructor will provide Extension (95% of time) leadership in family and consumer sciences (60% of Extension time in food safety, health, and nutrition) and 4-H youth development (40% of Extension time) programming. The position will provide support and Extension outreach in Bear Lake and Caribou counties and throughout the Eastern Extension District.
The successful candidate will determine clientele needs and priorities and then design, market, conduct, and evaluate Extension programs. In addition, the educator will participate in applicable university, college, Extension, district, and community committees and perform other service/leadership assignments (5% of time).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An earned bachelor’s degree related to family and consumer sciences, food science/food safety, health/nutrition, youth development, human development, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience designing innovative and effective educational programs in response to local needs; implementing programs and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Experience working directly with youth and adult audiences as well as experience collaborating with community organizations to provide educational experiences to diverse youth audiences and others.
  • Experience in demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with program audiences.
  • Experience in using people related skills including teaching, problem solving, communication, conflict management, relationship building and leadership development.
  • Experience communicating verbally, in writing, listening, and with public speaking/presentation skills.
  • Experience recruiting, teaching, and managing volunteers.
  • Experience in using technology in programing.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master’s degree in an applicable field of study.
  • Extension experience in family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development, or applicable professional experience.
  • Knowledge of Bear Lake and/or Caribou counties and the surrounding area.
  • Experience in fund raising, grantsmanship, and cost recovery efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with mass media (TV, Internet, radio, newspapers).





Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends
  • Must: possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 lbs.
