Program Coordinator, People Culture & Equity

Johns Hopkins University Press seeks a Program Coordinator for People, Culture & Equity who will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating and implementing administrative support services for programs, events, and activities. The Program Coordinator will join a team of exceptional professionals committed to bringing the benefits of discovery to the world by providing global access, impact, and influence for the scholarship that we publish and distribute. This position will help to ensure that the Press is a leader in the selection and development of innovative ideas and scholarship; the creation of pioneering technologies to enhance discovery and learning; and the connection of people to the most trusted knowledge from global researchers, scholars, and educators.

The Program Coordinator will support the Director of People, Culture and Equity in managing the workplace culture and weaving justice, equity, diversity & inclusion (JEDI) into that culture. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program and events coordination, calendaring, administrative support, special projects, and data compilation and analysis. This position reports to the Director of People, Culture & Equity.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Program Coordinator is an administrative professional who coordinates and manages the planning, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of programs, processes and activities related to workplace culture and JEDI, as detailed in the Press’s overall strategic plan. The Program Coordinator will work with the Director of People, Culture, and Equity and the staff at the Press to implement initiatives related to JEDI in the Press’s overall strategic plan.
  • Promote, across the Press, the values related to JEDI, dignity, and workplace culture.
  • Identify systemic barriers to equal outcomes for marginalized people, work on ways in which to effectively address those barriers, coordinate programs and activities and measure their effectiveness.
  • In conjunction with the Director of People, Culture & Equity, plan & facilitate Press-Wide workshops, programs and activities that increase values related to diversity, EJI, dignity, and culture. This includes managing and facilitating workshop curriculum and objectives, working with JHUP leadership, staff and the ACT Team.
  • Primary lead for communications, logistics, and scheduling for Press-Wide initiatives including events, activities, trainings and workshops.
  • Coordinate and track skill and knowledge development across the Press.
  • Support the leaders of the internship program for first generation, low income students and contribute to developing an apprenticeship or mentorship program for new and current staff members interested in broadening their knowledge and skills across the Press.
  • Coordinate completion of weekly and monthly reports.
  • In partnership with the ACT Chair, assist with recruiting team members and providing support and guidance with programming for the ACT Team members based on ACT’s Seven Pillars.
  • Support outreach initiatives with individuals and community partners for JEDI related programs in the JHU network and the greater Baltimore community.
  • Track and manage budget, contracts and inventory of swag, gifts, supplies, or other program-related items.
  • Weave justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into all aspects of the work.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Five years progressively responsible related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $20.40 - $28.00/hr (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
