Assistant Program Director, CEAC & SP Program

Job Summary

The CEAC & SP Program Assistant Director will report to the CEAC & SP Director, Clinical Education Assessment Center (CEAC) and Standardized Patient (SP) Program. The primary role is to assist in the implementation and delivery of clinical education activities through the application of simulation technologies such as computers, medical equipment, standardized patients, audio-visual, and SIMIQ software. The CEAC & SP Program supports in person learning and online virtual simulation in Clinical Education Assessment Center.

The Assistant Director will be organizing and supervising programs as appropriate; monitoring and assisting with program set-up, tear-down, and re-setting of on-site lab spaces and closing of in-person and virtual SP & student simulation data.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with CEAC & SP Director, Office Manager, and faculty in planning programs that will be held in the CEAC and seminar rooms
  • This includes attending planning meetings and following up on tasks in a timely manner
  • Collaborates with Director and Office Manager to review the monthly and weekly CEAC and SP Program schedule
  • This includes identifying staffing needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversees CEAC inventory control, assessing needed tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Act as the on-site department representative, in the absence of Director by supporting faculty, staff, and students
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation and use of the (CEAC) clinical lab equipment and technology (including otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, exam beds, cameras, microphones, and online and control station software after training is completed.)
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, and managing a pool of quality Standardized Patients
  • Assists with training Standardized Patients and acts as leads trainer in the absence of the Director
  • This includes managing and editing SP cases for trainings
  • Assists with quality assurance of SP Performance. This includes tracking SP progress and collaborating with Director and faculty to improve SP Performance
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using EMS Simulation IQ system, including building, and creating and managing student sessions, cases, blueprints, and checklists after training is completed
  • Monitors and operates Simulation IQ technology in the control room during Clinical Education Assessment Center programs and events, with support by CEAC & SP Director and casual control room techs
  • This includes training casual SP Techs and course coordinators to help run and monitor the Control Station as necessary
  • Monitors and reports issues with SIMIQ software and CEAC technology to our third-party vendor EMS and the CEAC & SP Director
  • This is includes putting in work order tickets and tracking resolution progress
  • Assists with managing, inputting, and finalizing in-person and virtual SP & student performance data and videos stored in Simulation IQ
  • Assists with Clinical Skills Assessment student orientation or pre-program check-ins as needed
  • Assists with monitoring the daily on-site operations of the CEAC and SP Program to ensure communication of needs and issues to the CEAC & SP Director
  • Acts as an embedded standardized participant in simulation after training provided
  • Participate in special projects and events as assigned
  • Must be available for occasional evening in-person and SP Programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • 2-3 years professional experience working with students and/or faculty within an educational setting
  • Computer literacy in MS software
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including proper use of communication tools and technologies, as well as attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with a broad range of individuals at various levels within an organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and team-building skills
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to handle multiple projects successfully
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve basic simulation issues
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance and occasionally over 75 pounds with assistance
  • Knowledge of simulation services and applications is preferred; basic training in simulation technology will be provided
  • Knowledge of business planning, modeling, concepts, and tools helpful
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and use of Medical Education software recording system such as Simulation IQ preferred
