We are searching for an experienced Graduate Programs Outreach Specialist at our Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):

Develop and implement outreach programs and initiatives to increase enrollment, enhance retention, and improve completion rates of graduate students. Facilitate campus-wide efforts to further develop quality of WSU graduate programs and expand partnerships with domestic and international pipeline institutions. Facilitate centralized effort to create, identify and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract and enroll students from diverse populations for all graduate programs across campus.

Create and implement goals and objectives to achieve successful outcomes in graduate degree programs at WSU. Develop and manage new enrollment and retention initiatives relative to graduate programs to support the strategic direction of the Graduate School and University.

Develop and implement various projects and initiatives to promote and increase graduate student admission, enrollment and retention for all WSU schools and colleges. Involve faculty and staff in targeted initiatives and work with schools and colleges to identify specific needs and strategies. Build and maintain relationships with school/college stakeholders, including international recruitment consultants, in order to promote growth and improvement of graduate programs.

Identify potential recruiting relationships with targeted colleges and universities. Build and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders. Attend key national, regional (including Canada) and in-state events. Establish and foster community relationships within the Michigan and the Great Lakes Regions.

Facilitate and support the delivery of services, on behalf of the Graduate School, to graduate students as well as school/college units serving graduate students. Support curriculum development and innovation.

Collaborate with Graduate School stakeholders and WSU's Marketing and Communications division to develop a strategic marketing direction for graduate programs. Use appropriate branding and marketing strategies on specific projects and initiatives for the Graduate School, meeting the needs of the Colleges and Schools and remaining consistent/supportive of the overall WSU marketing initiative.

Track, monitor and assess marketing and communication activities to increase visibility of graduate programs. Collaborate with others on creating and rolling out graduate program events and activities. Set up booths/tables at other institutions and fairs to recruit masters and PhD students. Provide scholarship information, student resources for out-of-state and/or international students.

Maintain a strategic outlook on current trending and growing interest in graduate programs to support efforts to yield more graduate students, from admission and enrollment through graduation.

Assist Graduate School Leadership with grant writing and program activities associated with graduate students and graduate programming within the Graduate School when such opportunities arise.

Identify and establish metrics on graduate recruitment, enrollment and retention. Collect and use data to identify opportunities and address issues related to recruitment, retention and graduation of graduate students.

Build and support recruiting strategies and programs for WSU campus wide Graduate Programs. Working with other Graduate School stakeholders to develop forms and records to document program activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Marketing, Communication, or a related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education/experience. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)

5 years of progressive experience in academic student services, including recruitment, building and running program(s) at a higher educational institution or research university. Understanding of Wayne State University's (or other academic institution's) graduate programs, academic standards, admissions practices, and recruiting efforts.

BUSINESS ACUMEN: Knowledge of Graduate level curriculum/academic standards. High level understanding of WSU's S/C/D structure, Faculty, Staff, and programs.
