The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) at Old Dominion
University is accepting applications for the Instructional Designer
(full-time, 12 month) position. This position will provide
instructional design and development consultation related to
courses, modules, and whole curriculum activities and faculty
development to facilitate change to a student-centered model for
teaching and learning.
Required Education: Master’s degree in
instructional design or a similar, related field.
Required Qualifications: Experience making
decisions and assisting others to come to decision. Experience
related to clarifying confusing topics to the point that change can
be initiated. Experience in education either as an instructor or in
administration with a focus on curriculum re-development.
Significant understanding and experience with technology
management. Knowledge and skills in instructional design theory,
principles, and practices. Sufficient generalist knowledge to be
able to serve numerous content areas easily and adeptly.
Understanding of basic production and implementation of media
elements such as graphics, sound, and video. Skills and abilities
in a wide array of learning technologies. Project management
skills. Attention to detail. Extremely well-organized. Excellent
communication skills (written, verbal, and publishing). Strong
interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate the professionalism
necessary to operate easily in a higher education
environment.
Conditions of Employment: In accordance to
Executive Directive #18 issued by Governor Ralph Northam effective
September 1, 2021, all Old Dominion University employees who enter
the workplace or work remotely must disclose their vaccine status
to the designated university personnel. Employees who are not

the results of those tests to designated university
