East Carolina University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Graduate School.

East Carolina University (ECU) enjoys a proud heritage and record of contribution since its founding in 1907. ECU is the fourth largest university in the University of North Carolina (UNC) system, which consists of the state's 16 degree-granting public institutions.

The Graduate School at East Carolina University is home to more than 4,500 students engaged in graduate level coursework and research. ECU offers more than 70 master's degree programs, 2 intermediate programs, and over 60 graduate certificate programs through their 11 colleges and schools. In addition, ECU offers 13 research doctoral programs, 6 first professional degree programs (AuD, MD, DMD, DNP, DPT, EdD) and holds the distinction of being classified among the Doctoral/Research Universities by the Carnegie Foundation.

East Carolina University is seeking a dynamic scholar and collaborative leader for the position of Dean of the Graduate School to ensure the vibrancy, growth, and sustainability of ECU's graduate programs. Graduate education at ECU plays a key role in shaping the intellectual environment in ways that challenge and transform knowledge and is essential to the University's ability to assist in preparing learners to achieve their professional goals in an environment in which workforce needs continue to evolve. As such, the next dean of the Graduate School will apply an entrepreneurial mindset toward ensuring ECU's success in ensuring that its graduate level educational and scholarly efforts significantly impact the region, the nation, and the world.

Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Graduate School is responsible for the oversight and coordination of activities related to the promotion, development, and implementation of graduate studies at East Carolina University. As a member of the Dean's Council, the Dean of the Graduate School will collaborate with college deans in the planning, implementation, and productivity of graduate education as well as work collegially among administrators, faculty, and staff.
