Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applications two (2) tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Physiology (HPHY) beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Program and Position: Vibrant, growing, undergraduate human physiology program (with approximately 235 students) seeks a faculty member to teach in the areas of exercise physiology and/or cellular & molecular physiology.  Our department has recently moved to a new state-of-the art facility, lab spaces include an exercise physiology lab, an environmental chamber, cellular & molecular lab and research space, and more.  We are seeking a new faculty member with expertise in either of these areas, or with overlapping areas of interest/expertise.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Teach 15 credit hours of courses per academic year (typically 17-21 contact hours) in the Human Physiology program. Teaching assignments will include anatomy and physiology (with labs), and either cellular/molecular physiology or exercise physiology, scientific writing, and/or other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise or as assigned by the department chairperson to meet departmental needs
  2. Advise undergraduate research projects
  3. Advise Human Physiology majors
  4. Academic citizenship: Participation in departmental, school, and university level activities.
  5. Professional development: Ongoing engagement with the discipline is expected. This may include conference attendance, publications, presentations, membership and participation in professional organizations, development of pedagogy, etc.
