The University Renovations Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of capital and non-capital construction to facilitate successful completion of university construction projects on both the Monroe Park and MCV Campuses.
The project management portion of construction includes supervision of construction contractors, architectural firms, engineering firms, consulting specialists, and associated university services during construction or renovation of facilities.
The core functions of the Project Manager include: management, planning and estimating, monitoring schedules for vendor compliance, inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract documents, budget control and negotiations with contractors and A/E firms, and project closeout through owner occupancy.
Minimum Hiring Standards
- BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- Five (5) years as a project manager handling multiple projects in commercial, industrial, or higher education required
- Virginia Driver's License with a good driving record is required
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Negotiation skills
- Above average written and oral communication skills
- Supervisory and management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Virginia Driver's License is required
