The Program in Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, 9-month renewable Lecturer position with a target start date of August 16, 2023. Renewal of the position is contingent on funding and strong performance reviews by the Program in Translation and Interpreting Studies. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The primary responsibility is to teach courses in terminology, localization, and professional translation at the graduate and advanced undergraduate level. The Lecturer who joins our multilingual Program may also have the opportunity to direct individualized MA capstone projects and to propose curricular developments. Annual funding for professional development activities will be provided.
A doctoral degree in Translation Studies, Linguistics or a related field is required at the time of appointment. At least one year of teaching at the postsecondary level and professional-level competence in English and at least one other language is also required. Professional experience as a terminologist or in terminology management is highly desirable.
