Assistant Professor (Ref: 2201179) 
Department of International Education 
Faculty of Education and Human Development 

 

The Department seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in education studies/life and values education. Candidates academically qualified in education studies (including courses in philosophical and socio-cultural issues in education); life and values education; undergraduate general education (various courses and tutorials); and international and global studies in education, with a disciplinary background in the social sciences, philosophy, qualitative, and/or quantitative research methodology are encouraged to apply. 

The appointee will contribute to the Department’s teaching, research, project supervision, programme and curriculum development, and programme and course management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervision of field work and of teaching practicum may also be required. 

Applicants should have a Doctoral degree and prior degrees in fields relevant to one or more of these areas. They should be an active researcher with a growing publication record and able to continue conducting research that attracts competitive external funding and leads to publication in leading international journals. Applicants should have teaching experience and a record of excellence in teaching (Qualified Teacher Status is a plus). They should be fluent in English with, ideally, some knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin Chinese and the educational context of Hong Kong and/or China. Applicants should possess evidence of scholarship, research, and publications in the relevant field(s).
