Position Summary:

Reporting to the director of digital marketing, this position will be responsible for developing and publishing digital content on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh social media accounts as well as other digital platforms. This position contributes to strategy development and implements marketing projects in support of institutional or unit marketing goals. Typical work hours are 7:45 to 4:30 p.m. as well as evening and weekend social media coverage responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Standard Job Description Responsibilities:

o Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies
o Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques
o Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities

Detailed Responsibilities:

A. Social media management (70%)

o Develop original and engaging campaigns and day-to-day content for the UW Oshkosh social media presence. Publish content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other emerging platforms.
o Develop and manage the social media strategy for UW Oshkosh, including its content, voice and branding.
o Capture and analyze social media metrics and report on the University’s progress toward communication and interaction goals.
o Conduct competitor analyses and research market trends to recommend changes to the UW Oshkosh social media strategy.

B. Community management (20%)

o Use social media listening tools to monitor and connect with students, alumni and community members.
o Develop network of students, faculty and staff to help enhance digital marketing and communication efforts around the University.
o Connect with University departments to recommend best practices and give constructive feedback on social media strategy.

C. Project Management and Internal Liaison (10%)

o Meet with faculty and staff to discuss marketing needs and represent those needs as projects are executed.
o Make recommendations that meet department needs while maintaining best practices and research-supported strategies.

Qualifications
Required:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Proficiency in managing social media platforms for an organization.
• Strong communication skills that are clear, effective and sensitive, whether in person, by telephone or in writing.
• Strong attention to detail in editing text and visual content.
• Ability to decipher social media analytics and draw conclusions from data.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Preferred:

• Proficiency in developing marketing/communications strategy for a large, multifaceted audience.
• Familiarity with new and emerging social media platforms and trends.
• Advanced ability to create and edit graphics, videos, animations or other art.
• Experience or proven ability in creating and managing paid digital or social media ads.
