Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer / Scientific Officer in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 517415) , to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in psychiatric epidemiology, biostatistics, public population health or related disciplines. They should have a strong quantitative background with relevant post-doctoral experience in analysing large scale data using advanced quantitative methods and demonstrated expertise in applying cutting-age methods to epidemiology and development of mental health over the life course. Proficiency in longitudinal analyses, multilevel modelling, data visualisation, and state-of-the-art statistical and epidemiological models are required. They should be self-motivated; highly committed; have excellent written and oral communication skills; and able to work well both independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.

The appointee is expected to lead projects making use of a large population-based cohort with over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households; real-time monitoring of population well-being; and identify and develop advanced epidemiological and biostatistics methods. The appointee will contribute to other projects in our group; conduct power/sample size estimation; generate tables and figures for reports and presentations; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; contribute to data management; provide guidance to PhD students and data analysts; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
