Job Summary
The RISD Store is seeking a part-time E-Commerce Sales Associate to join its dynamic team. The RISD Store enables the creative pursuits of our students and customers through a unique, inspiring and informative shopping experience.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the E-Commerce Sales Associate provides exceptional customer service relations for the Store website to diverse internal and external communities, including students, faculty and staff, and the general public. This role performs a wide variety of tasks including timely online order fulfillment, knowledgeable merchandise assistance, cash register operation, general housekeeping, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
Essential Functions
- Accurately and timely process web orders shipments per
established protocol, including but not limited to, print orders,
pull stock, verify merchandise, box, label and ship. Follow up with
customers on any order-related issues including but not limited to
out of stock items, payment issues, address issues, returns,
exchanges, and order cancellation in a helpful, friendly, and
courteous manner. Log all outgoing packages on the shipment
tracking sheet. Move prepared outgoing packages to the Receiving
room. In the absence of a receiver, deliver and/or pick up packages
at the RISD Mailroom.
- Monitor curbside and in-store pickup orders to ensure they are
being processed in a timely manner, and are being verified and
marked accordingly in Lightspeed.
- Follow up on web customer inquiries via RISD store email
accounts, respond in a prompt and courteous manner, and escalate to
supervisor, as necessary. Troubleshoot customer issues with
Lightspeed website, and escalate to supervisor as necessary. Follow
up with UPS and USPS on packages that are reported as lost or
damaged in transit. Submit claims via shipper website, and escalate
as necessary.
- Proactively engage with RISD’s Retail Marketing Associate to
maintain, update and organize product information and content on
the RISD Store website. Troubleshoot calculations of weights/item
builds. Report any ShipStation and Lightspeed system related issues
to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized and well stocked shipping room to
ensure that all packing and shipping materials are available. As
required, perform register duties, restock shelves, fold and tag
merchandise and perform inventory cycle counts and annual inventory
counts using mobile devices.
- High school diploma required.
- Applicants must have previous retail experience, e-commerce
experience, strong telephone, and personal communications
skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and hold
multicultural competencies appropriate for working with a diverse
range of constituents.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work effectively with
ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
- Proficiency with computers and related software.
Valued but not required skills and experience
- Minimum of one year of college education
- Art and design background preferred with knowledge of art
supply application and contemporary art and design history

Part-time. 20-25 hours per week. Specific schedule will be discussed with candidates at time of interview.
