The Honors Program seeks several full-time Teaching Faculty members to join a growing coterie of faculty dedicated to teaching undergraduates in the University Honors Program. FSU has supported outstanding students through its Honors programs since 1932. Today, the University continues that mission through its highly successful University Honors program, which challenges students through an innovative, tailored curriculum created and taught by faculty from within the program and throughout the University. The University Honors program also offers students exciting opportunities to engage their learning outside the classroom and in community with other driven, high-achieving students.

The candidates chosen for this position will design and teach several courses each term as part of the Honors Signature program. Created in 2018, the Signature course program introduces students to multiple fields, methodologies, and ways of learning. The Signature Course faculty, who are considered the program’s “core faculty,” are also expected to complement their classroom teaching when appropriate with engagement experiences that expand scholastic and intellectual experiences for students.

We are most interested in applicants who are passionate about teaching, have experience designing and teaching advanced courses and/or for advanced learners in a liberal arts context; are comfortable with interdisciplinary approaches, and have disciplinary backgrounds in the humanities, arts, sciences, or social sciences. Candidate specializations are open, though there is some preference for those with training in Political Science and Comparative Politics, American History, Anthropology, African American Studies, Latinx Studies, Education, History and Philosophy of Science, and Ecology and Sustainability.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to collaborate productively with faculty colleagues and to teach and mentor students from the wide range of majors served in our program. Ideal candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusively, as reflected in their teaching philosophy and scholarship, and/or mentorship experience.
