Marketing Project Manager

About the Opportunity

The Northeastern University College of Professional Studies (NU CPS) is looking for a Marketing Project Manager (MPM) to join our fast-paced team to manage and scale our marketing programs, campaigns, initiatives, and events while we expand our mission to offer transformational education experiences to all leaners, wherever they are.

Reporting to the Executive Director of CPS Enrollment Marketing and Communications (EDM), the MPM works closely with cross functional teams to coordinate and inform on all marketing projects. This will include our partners in the university's central Enrollment Management Marketing teams, our programs teams, and our internal marketing resources.

The ideal candidate will be a go-getter, figure-it-out, resourceful team player with an ability to see the big picture and leverage strong problem-solving and critical thinking to keep the details of projects on track. Strong organizational skills are leveraged daily as you know where every project is in process and actively mitigate risks to successful completion. You proactively look for and implement ways to streamline processes, and keep the team and organization informed. You're also viewed as the go-to person around the organization for marketing and communications resources.

Responsibilities:

45% - Project Management
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing calendar.
  • Plan the events calendar and monitor and control the event activities to ensure they are successful.
  • Develop project budgets and timelines and manage them through lifecycle.
  • Initiate a marketing services request system, tied into a project management system, to receive, evaluate, and facilitate requests of marketing team.
  • Develop and manage a content calendar, complete with scheduling deadlines in collaboration with communications team.
  • Plan, initiate, and supervise marketing projects that service the marketing strategy from beginning to end.
  • Plan and execute the successful completion of a website refresh, including build-out, monitoring, and maintenance components.
  • Initiate CPS intranet project that includes requirements gathering, planning and securing resources, and oversee the development.


40% Marketing
  • Working with the EDM to create a strategic marketing strategy and map out the tasks needed to implement that strategy.
  • Plan and collaborate with central Enrollment Management Marketing teams to successfully complete CPS marketing requests.
  • Execute marketing strategy in collaboration with marketing and CPS leadership.
  • Ensure internal customers and management are satisfied with the proposed marketing projects and campaigns.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the college, its offerings, and its learners to ensure implementation of effective marketing campaigns.
  • This position will work with and oversee the NU CPS Events Assistant to ensure all college events are a well-organized extension of the college's brand and message.


15% Process/Systems
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage project management platform.
  • Develop and maintain external vendor relationships.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, marketing, or a related field.
  • PMP Certification required.
  • Five years' experience with proven record of delivering projects on-time and on budget from inception to completion.
  • Experience working with large, matrixed organizations in-house or through an agency.
  • Education industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Critical thinking, decision making skills with the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Project management theory and understanding of how to turn plans into action.
  • Ability to prioritize importance of tasks and arrange them in the most efficient manner.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experienced with setup and management of project management tools such as Asana, Trello, Wrike, etc.
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interface and influence colleagues.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust through demonstrated ethical behaviors and standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
