Xavier is seeking a Videographer / Multimedia Storyteller for its in-house, award-winning marketing and communications team.

The ideal candidate will be creative, nimble, and able to cover and craft stories in real-time. The candidate will understand and produce engaging content specific to various platforms and contribute to the team charged with earning visibility for the Xavier brand.

This position will generate a variety of video content primarily for Xavier’s main brand channels, including Xavier’s website, social media channels, and external communication. The ideal candidate will be versatile with the ability to capture and edit video or photo content, as well as assist with Xavier’s overall marketing content strategy. From short videos for TikTok to longer videos for campus visitors, this position is all about crafting high-quality videos about Xavier, our people, our spaces, and more, in a collaborative environment with other marketing professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates, produces and edits engaging original video content
  • Creates content in different formats, including short and long videos, GIFs, IGTV, sizzles, teasers, etc. that capture the attention of our intended audiences
  • Collaborates with others on campus to produce content that expands awareness of Xavier’s brand and reputation
  • Assists with digital asset management
  • Stays up-tp-date with cultural trends, the 24/7 news cycle, relevant societal topics and identifies opportunities to produce content related to the Xavier brand
  • Learns and adheres to Xavier University brand guidelines
  • Creates audio-only content for podcasts and other uses
Many of our team members shape Xavier’s internal and external story. The team is a group of communication professionals who are charged with creating content that will drive visibility and engagement to Xavier’s social media channels and contribute to internal and external communication. The ideal candidate will be a versatile, team player with an enthusiasm for Xavier’s mission and the ability to contribute to championing the Xavier brand in a variety of ways.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to create a variety of multimedia content from concept-to-creation
  • Knowledge of video production including shooting, editing, lighting, and audio skills
  • Self-starter, skilled at working on multiple projects simultaneously and able to deliver high-quality video projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize workload and deliver content with a quick turnaround time when necessary
  • Experience with live production on YouTube and other social media outlets
  • Expertise with DSLR cameras, video cameras and other related equipment and accessories
  • A firm understanding of all major social channels and ability to tailor content to each platform
  • Proficiency with Mac computers and video editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects
  • Ability to inventory, maintain and assemble hardware
  • Experience setting up and tearing down cameras, audio recorders, lighting, microphones, and props
  • Calibrating and maintaining equipment
  • Troubleshoots problems with video equipment
  • Ability to interview various people
  • Working in the studio to edit video content
  • Inserting closed captioning, graphics, or other on-screen text into a video
  • Adding computer graphics and special effects to a video
  • Willingness to work with and help train student workers
  • While much work can happen during a normal business day, this position will occasionally call for irregular work hours including nights, weekends and some travel
  • Opportunity exists for a flexible work schedule and occasional remote work
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in video production or a related degree or three to five years of experience producing multimedia content for a brand
  • Understanding of new and emerging media platforms and ability to adapt and grow to changing media trends
  • Proficiency with DSLR cameras, video production equipment and other accessories
  • Knowledge of analytics and how to use them to identify opportunities to produce content that resonates with audiences
  • Experience shooting, directing, editing video in a professional environment; experience with producing specifically for social media preferred
