Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an open rank, twelve-month, non- tenure track, Student Outreach and Sponsored Programs Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor in the Kennesaw State University Library System with a desired start date of January 1, 2022.  Library students graduating in December 2021 are eligible to apply.

 

The position is under the general supervision of the Associate Dean & Director of Engagement and Assessment Services Team. This position is part of the Department of Public Services.

 

A focus of this position will be the development, planning, implementation, and assessment of a diverse range of outreach programs, and sponsored activities that promote academic success and lifelong learning targeted to the students, faculty, and staff of KSU and the wider community.

 

Because a number of events take place on weekends or during the evenings, the position will occasionally be required to work during these times to serve the needs of the students and faculty. Although based primarily at the Kennesaw campus, this person may need to work at the Marietta campus or other affiliated locations occasionally.

Finalists will be invited to give a presentation on a topic to be determined. Responsibilities include:

Librarianship (85 %)

  • Develop, plan, implement, manage, and assess a diverse range of outreach programs and sponsored activities that promote academic success and lifelong learning targeted to the students, faculty, and staff of KSU and the wider community which requires substantial attention to details with a focus upon increasing awareness and engagement of the KSU Library System’s collections, services, and spaces.
  • Collaborate with the Student Engagement and Marketing Strategist Librarian on the promotion and advertisement of activities, collaborate with Assessment Librarian to measure impact of activities, and partner with library vendors and other entities for sponsored library training events.
  • Promote KSU Library System student success initiatives and impact across campuses. Cultivate and maintain relationships with other university departments, especially those that provide student support services to foster awareness about ways the Library System can be an essential partner for student success.
  • Collaborate with other internal library units to assist them engaging with the university and external community and promote the Library System
  • Perform subject specific professional work including faculty outreach and liaisonship as
  • Provide research assistance (in person, via chat, or other communication modes) to students and other members of the KSU community as needed.

Service (10%)

 

  • Engage in KSU Library System service, KSU University service, and/or service to the library

Scholarship (5%)

  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

 

An earned Master’s degree in Librarianship / Information Science, or a master level equivalent accredited degree program recognized by the American Library Association, or foreign equivalent.

 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Knowledge of /willingness to master use of Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Suite software, and social media
  • Experience in academic libraries
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with evidence of strong attention to detail
  • Evidence of effective project management, scheduling experience, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Event planning and budget experience
  • A record of professional service
  • A record of scholarly publications and/or conference presentations
