The Baylor University Great Texts Program seeks to fill a one-year full-time Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow position in the Honors College for the academic year 2023–2024, with an anticipated start date in August 2023. A second-year renewal of the appointment is possible and desirable. The Honors College Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship Program integrates the best virtues of American higher education: academic rigor, exemplary teaching, high-quality scholarship, interdisciplinary cooperation, and morally and spiritually grounded purpose.

The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree in a humanities discipline (awarded by August 21, 2023). Salary is competitive and includes benefits. Review of applications will begin on November 30, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants will be asked to provide a statement of religious faith demonstrating understanding of and compatibility with Baylor's Christian mission.

Workload assignment is 75% teaching and 25% research, with teaching to include three courses each semester. Courses will include Intellectual Traditions of the Ancient World (and possibly Medieval Intellectual Traditions). We encourage applications from a wide range of historical and disciplinary specializations in the humanities.

All application materials should be submitted through Ignite. A complete application consists of (1) a cover letter, (2) a current curriculum vitae, including contact information for three references, (3) an official transcript of the highest degree completed (if a Ph.D. is in progress, a transcript showing hours completed toward the Ph.D. is also required), (4) a statement of teaching philosophy as it relates specifically to Baylor’s Great Texts Program and the university’s faith-based mission statement, (5) a writing sample.

Finalists will be invited for an interview with the department and university administration.
