The Department of Biology at Texas Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2023.
The ideal candidate will have teaching and research experience in the areas of genetics, genomics, and/or molecular biology. The candidate’s primary teaching responsibilities (15 contact hours/semester) include lecture and laboratory for: an upper-level undergraduate course in molecular genetics; an introductory undergraduate biology (2nd semester) course for science majors; and a general education science course for non-science majors.
Additionally, the candidate is expected to develop undergraduate research opportunities as well as participate in the two-semester research course sequence required for biology majors. Other requirements include advising students and service to the University community.
Minimum qualifications for this position are a completed Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, prior to appointment, with preference for candidates with a specialization in Genetics or a related field. Candidates who have experience teaching at the undergraduate college level and post-doctoral research experience are preferred. Candidates must demonstrate scholarly excellence in their specialty area.
