ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC, THEATRE & DANCE. Duties:  The appointee will be expected to teach one on one voice lessons and provide a studio class weekly for musical theatre students from first-year through fourth year; provide vocal technique to address the foundational skills required in today’s musical theatre industry with a focus given to underrepresented repertoire and cultural styles; demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence; partner with departmental colleagues to create an innovative curriculum for students who seek to explore a range of educational opportunities and career pathways; recruit and retain students of exceptional promise and develop and maintain a visible profile on the national and international level as a performer and pedagogue. The appointed faculty will be expected to: teach in-person instruction, attend and participate in on-campus Musical Theatre performances, participate in faculty governance, attend faculty and departmental meetings, and serve on faculty, department, and university committees as appropriate.

 

Qualifications:  

 

Tenor or baritone preferred; A thorough knowledge of vocal pedagogy and musical theatre repertoire from Golden Age to Pop, Rock, Rap, R&B, Folk and Country; demonstrated ability to empower, advocate for, and value a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences, as shown through pedagogy, mentoring, and related activities. Established expertise in teaching by having served as a faculty member at institution(s) of higher learning, presented master classes and maintained private studios. A Master’s degree in the Fine Arts or equivalent experience is required.
