Assistant Teaching Professor of Religious Studies (NTT)

Job Description

The Department of Classics, Archaeology, and Religion at the University of Missouri invites applications for a full-time renewable non-tenure track position (Assistant Teaching Professorship) in the religions of the United States. The teaching load is four courses per semester.

We strongly encourage those with training in the methods and theories of the academic study of religion and who have teaching experience or expertise in issues of religion, race, and gender as well as contemporary Islam to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach high enrollment introductory courses in religion, religion and culture, or global religions as well as upper-level specialized courses in the areas specified above.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A doctorate completed by time of appointment is required.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

• Degree focus
• Competency in languages relevant to the candidate's area of specialization
• Teaching experience in relation to issues of religion, race, and gender
• Teaching experience with contemporary Islam
