Job Summary/Purpose:
The Assistant Professor of Paramedicine provides instruction to students in the EMS /Paramedicine program, develop curriculum, assess student learning, and provide student advising.
CTE Program Director: Every CTE program has a Program Director. As faculty within the EMS /Paramedicine program, you may be asked to perform the job duties of the Program Director for the EMS /Paramedicine program. In the event that this designation is given, you will be provided with the information regarding this position prior to any appointments.

• Full-time Faculty, 1.0 FTE, Exempt. This is a full-time, tenure-track probationary position commencing September 2023. Hours of work may include evening or weekend teaching assignments.
• $51,750– $60,889 (subject to change based on current faculty contract negotiations) per year depending on experience.
• Represented by the Faculty Forum Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Official transcripts are required upon hire. Applicants anticipating Degree completion must supply a letter from his/her university stating the degree title and that the degree will be granted by that date.
•COCC employees must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

• Effective Monday, April 18, 2022, COCC implemented a COVID -19 vaccination requirement for all employees, including benefited employees, part-time faculty, and temporary workers such as irregular wage, work study and community education. Essential Functions:
- Provide instruction in area of discipline, using approved course outcome guides. Teaching assignments may be during the day (including early morning), evening, or weekend, and could include classes taught at any of the College campuses, online or remotely.
- Provide student advising and assistance in areas of course selection, career planning, job placement and employment follow-up.
- Hold at least five scheduled office hours per week for student help sessions and program assistance.
- Participate in department meetings, curriculum revision, course assessment, program assessment, and program review.
- Engage in regular professional growth activities, remain current in the field, and maintain current credentials or licensures as required by the program.
- Participate in service to the college. This may include participating in College committees, taskforces, peer teams, or other activities.
- Provide meaningful, professional service to the community, businesses, public agencies, and other organizations.
- Perform other essential job functions as assigned that support
the overall objective of the position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS SPECIFIC TO POSITION / DEPARTMENT :
- Work with the Central Oregon EMS Agencies to assist students in finding student affiliations necessary to complete AAS degree requirements.
- Plan and coordinate, along with the EMS Program Director, the COCC Public Safety Advisory Committee.

- Thorough knowledge in the field of taught discipline and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge.
- Ability to adapt and use a variety of teaching and assessment techniques including the use of technology to enhance student success.
- Ability to observe, direct, and oversee students ensuring safety in the classroom or laboratory.
- Ability to work with and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft office suite, various course management systems, technology to teach traditional, hybrid, or online courses and other technology used in the instruction setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members.

- Willingness to travel and or teach at various hours and campus locations, as required.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:
Individuals must be able to lift and carry instructional equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in classroom and office environments using computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Three years of paramedic pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency care experience.
- Must meet paramedic course instructor and program director
requirements as specified in Oregon Administrative Rule
333-265-0020 and CoAEMSP requirements for program director.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Oregon Paramedic in good standing with the Oregon Health Authority or ability to obtain within three months (Applicant should check reciprocity rules for requirements in applying for reciprocity through Oregon EMS department).
- Current CPR Instructor certificate from the American Heart Association.
- Current ACLS and PALS Instructor certificates from the American Heart Association or ability to acquire the certificates within six months of employment.
- Current PHTLS Instructor certificate from the National Association of EMTs or ability to acquire the certificate within six months of employment.
- Oregon Driver’s license and current NFPA Driver 1 or EVOC certification or the ability to acquire the certificates within six months of employment.
