Job Description

Serves as the chief development officer and liaison for Missouri S&T's top corporate and foundation partners. Works collaboratively with the Career Opportunity and Employer Relations Office. Meets regularly with top individual and/or corporate prospects and donors, chairs, as well as key faculty members and university administrators. Other duties as assigned.

Corporate senior development officers are expected to make 80 face-to-face visits per year with corporate and foundation partners, alumni, and friends, and travel to various corporate headquarters.

Specific responsibilities include :

Prospect Cultivation - Primarily through visits, annual solicitations, draws individual and/or corporate prospects closer to the university’s priorities.

Prospect Solicitation - Arranges and guides every aspect of the solicitation process within the corporate and foundation pool.

Liaison Role - Serves as key contact for corporate and foundation fundraising, working with leadership to facilitate the communication and matching of donor interests with targeted academic priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or public administration.
  • Three or more years of demonstrated success in fundraising, marketing and sales or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a willingness to travel extensively.
  • Proven track record of soliciting and closing major gifts.
  • Broad understanding of multifaceted campaign planning, implementation, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of successfully managing current and prospective donors at the major gift level.
  • Outstanding social skills, interpersonal skills, discretion, and judgment.
  • Ability to establish strong, interpersonal relationships with academic leaders, donors and development team members.
  • Ability to demonstrate a highly sophisticated understanding of all aspects of the cultivation and solicitation process.
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, motivated, and mature professional, who values integrity and a collaborative working environment. A working understanding of a research university environment is helpful, along with the polish and enthusiasm necessary to engage with donors on behalf of the university.
