Description

The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for an open-rank tenured/tenure-track faculty position in the broad area of transportation engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research record in travel demand modeling and/or transportation economics with application to emerging transport technologies (e.g., electric vehicles, autonomous driving, modular vehicles, drones). The successful candidate will be a member of the NYUAD Civil and Urban Engineering program, and will be able to collaborate with other faculty in transportation and related fields in the NYU Global Network, the NYUAD Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES), and the NYU Center for Urban Science & Progress (CUSP), among others.

NYUAD has state-of-the-art research facilities in a modern 15-acre campus on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The core research infrastructure is especially noteworthy, with an extensive and exceptional range of instruments and capabilities and high-performance computing facilities. In addition, the Engineering Division of NYUAD has close collaborations with the faculty and students of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering and has access to the world-class research centers and research infrastructure in New York.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, or a related field and must have demonstrated an ability to develop and lead high-quality research and attract competitive external funding .

It is also expected that the successful candidate will become Associated Faculty of NYU that allows research privileges and access to programs and facilities at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in New York.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit the Abu Dhabi and New York campuses in early Spring 2023. The appointment will begin in AY23-24, subject to final budget approval.
