Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Mathematics Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2023. Preference will be given to candidates with a focus in statistics, data science, or a related field. Responsibilities include a teaching load of three four credit statistics courses per semester, including general education courses, student advising, and service to the University community. The ideal candidate is a teacher-scholar who has a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student/faculty collaboration and a commitment to continued scholarly and professional growth.

The successful candidate for this position may be eligible for participation in Framingham State University's five-year National Science Foundation (NSF) Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) grant program. This program seeks to increase success in STEM academic careers for faculty who are historically underrepresented minorities, particularly African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. Benefits for eligible grant program participants include course reduction and monetary funds for establishing a research agenda, travel support, and cohort activities across three state universities. Eligibility for grant program participation is not a prerequisite for employment consideration for this or any other position at FSU. Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education.
  • PhD or EdD in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, or statistics education completed or have an expected completion date no later than September 1, 2023.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, benefits-eligible position in the MSCA bargaining unit at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the Massachusetts State College Association (union) contract.
