Job Description

Syracuse University College of Law is seeking a program manager to spearhead organization efforts of the Orange Advance program, the partnership between the Atlanta University Consortium institutions and the College of Law. The position will organize and plan the week-long Orange Advance summer program taking place each year in mid-May, collaborate with diversity and inclusion efforts, and complete other tasks as needed. The program manager will work with the College of Law advancement and career services team, as well as faculty members to develop pre-law programming on the AUC campus and an Atlanta-based internship program for AUC students in the Orange Advance program. The program manager will also participate in on-campus recruitment events and conduct counseling appointments for students interested in the Orange Advance program.

The person in this role will be based in the Atlanta, Georgia area as presence on the campuses of Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College will be required. Some limited travel may be required. This position will be responsible for responding to any communication from students encountered at recruitment events and other inquiries from prospective Orange Advance students as directed by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; JD or other advanced degree preferred. Experience of having worked with the College of Law’s admissions and financial aid office as a law student in the past is highly preferred. Working knowledge of Syracuse University College of Law’s admissions process and application requirements is preferred. Experience with counseling or advising students requested. Experience in marketing or sales is helpful.

Job Specific Qualifications

Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable engaging people from a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds. Must be able to work independently, be punctual, and dependably meet deadlines. Commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives is required. Enthusiasm for domestic and local travel is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead organization efforts of the Orange Advance program including on-campus recruitment events and conducting counseling appointments at Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College. Coordinate the week-long Orange Advance summer program which takes place annually mid-May. Assist with diversity and inclusion efforts, programs, and projects for prospective and current students. Represent the College of Law at various law school recruitment fairs, forums, and other events.
  • Initiate communication and respond to inquiries from prospective students via email, phone, and video meetings.
  • Recruitment travel and attendance to fairs, pre-law events, and forums.
  • Other duties as assigned.
