Job Description

The Barney School of Business is seeking candidates for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Sports Management to teach courses in Sports Management and related subjects. The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher, a productive scholar and an enthusiastic service provider.

Essential Job Duties

The successful applicant will teach courses in the new Sports Management Program, as well as other business school courses that correspond to their expertise and experience as the need arises. There will also be opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies program. An active scholarly/research/agenda with peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other accomplishments related to sports management program disciplines are expected for successful tenure and promotion. Service to the department, college, and university is expected and will include advising business school students from other business areas but will focus primarily on Sports Management students. An opportunity exists to further develop the curriculum and Sports Management program. Applicants should describe in their letter of intent how their teaching and/or scholarship will advance intercultural competence in all students. Candidates are encouraged to describe any particular expertise in curriculum development related to equity, diversity, and social justice in Sports Management.

Required Qualifications

Required: A Doctorate in a Business Discipline from an AACSB accredited school or equivalent business education accreditation body is required. Applicants must also document an interest and capability of research and publication in the Sports Management area. ABDs will be considered providing they document a degree completion date. Applicants not meeting this qualification may not be hired.

Preferred: In addition to a doctoral degree and research potential in the sports management related area, the ideal candidate will have experience teaching sport management or related courses and demonstrate the ability to engage with the sports community. Candidates should also be familiar with technology-supported learning pedagogy and be able to integrate technology into their teaching. Experience working with under-represented populations will be a plus.
