About this Opportunity

The Department of Special Education invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (tenure-line) faculty position available for the 2022-23 academic year. Our department is seeking faculty with strong interpersonal skills and faculty who value collaborative teaching approaches to promote cross-disciplinary knowledge that will serve our graduates in their careers. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable teaching skills in guiding the growth of academic programs and curricula and working experience in teaching.

Description

The Department of Special Education has a full-time tenure track faculty position available in August 2023. The faculty member assigned to this position will assist in teaching and related programming activities in Special Education: American Sign Language ( ASL ), aid in collecting data for departmental reports, providing program input and development, and support our ASL lab.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Earned a Doctorate in American Sign Language Studies, Deaf/Deaf Culture Studies or related field from an accredited institution.
B. Minimum of 5 years of ASL teaching experience in University or College setting.
C. ASLPI score of 4+ or better in American Sign Language ( ASL ).

Authorization to work in the US

Employer will consider sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

A. Knowledge and experience in various ASL curricula, materials, and resources.
B. ASLPI 5.
C. Familiar with Technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas or other LMS, and video recording and editing tools.
D. Record of or potential for scholarly activities commensurate with rank.
Experience working in ASL Lab
E. Have a strong involvement in the Deaf community.
F. Experience in teaching Deaf Education.
G. Evidence of scholarly productivity including published articles, books, professional presentations and related activities commensurate with rank.
H. Experience using innovative emerging media/technologies for ASL instruction.

Required Certifications/Licensures

ASLPI score of 4+ or higher.
