The Mathematical Sciences Department at St. Catherine University invite applications for Adjunct Lecturer positions for spring semester 2023, beginning Jan 30, 2023.

St. Kate's Mathematical Sciences Department offers students a broad background in theoretical mathematics, applied statistics and computer science in an environment that deeply values personal interaction and collaborative research. Our math and statistics faculty are dedicated to helping all students succeed — from the nursing major taking statistics, the chemistry major taking calculus, the humanities major taking math for the liberal arts to the math major preparing for graduate school. Our work is to bring the joy and beauty of mathematics to all Katies.Adjunct opportunities include:
  • Teach undergraduate statistics courses in a traditional classroom setting



Responsibilities:
  • Teach 2 or 3 classes on a semester basis in traditional environments.
  • Educate and support students in their classroom.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Consistent with the university's Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts-based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching and practice experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in mathematics or statistics or relevant field. To teach at the graduate level, a doctoral degree in same subject areas is required. Note that enrollment in a doctoral program with master’s level equivalency meets the qualifications to teach at the undergraduate level.
  • Must be interested in teaching in a traditional classroom setting


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral level degree in mathematics or statistics or relevant field
  • Experience teaching in a college or university setting
  • Experience teaching and mentoring of all different backgrounds and cultures
