The Public Health Education program in Eastern Michigan University’s School of Health Promotion and Human Performance seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin Fall 2023.

The academic programs within the School of Health Promotion and Human Performance represent an interdisciplinary approach that combines health science, behavioral science, medical science, and sport science into applied disciplines.

The mission of the School of Health Promotion and Human Performance is to provide recognized programs of excellence in teaching, research, and service that focus on assisting individuals, families, teachers, schools, and communities in promoting health and preventing disease while enhancing the quality of life across the lifespan.

Our faculty are committed to advancing our mission by:

  • Developing effective leaders who will provide programs and care for individuals of all ages and abilities. Providing an exemplary level of instruction that encourages diversity of thought and fosters a desire to engage in lifelong learning. Engaging in collaborative research activities that promote health and human performance.

The Public Health Education program at Eastern Michigan University currently consists of an MPH in Health Education, a BS in Public Health with Community Health and Health Administration tracks, a Graduate Certificate in Health Education and a minor in Health Education.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate-level and undergraduate-level Public Health Education courses. Develop, and maintain, a professional research agenda Advise undergraduate and graduate students Chair, and serve on, graduate project and thesis committees Supervise internships Serve on academic and professional committees Actively participate in professional community service Seek external funding for scholarly activity

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Public Health, Health Education, or a related field. Will consider ABD candidates with requirement that doctoral degree is obtained by start of appointment. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence An ongoing agenda for research and publication Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate Public Health Education courses
