The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $62,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

Position Summary
Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position at assistant professor level in Journalism & Media Production. This nine-month tenure track appointment will begin in August 2023. This faculty position may include teaching the following courses: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Production; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Editing, Script Writing, Audio Production, Introduction to Media Production, and others.

Duties/Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include the following activities:
- Teach 9 credit hours per semester of undergraduate coursework. Teaching may include the following courses: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Production; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Editing, Script Writing, Audio Production, Introduction to Media Production, and others. Candidates will be expected to teach in the classroom as well as online and must be able to use and apply current technologies in the classroom.
- In addition to teaching, the position will require a minimum of five office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students.
- Provide service to the department, college, university and/or community
- Participate in scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline as described in the Department Evaluation Guidelines
- Faculty engaged in other duties, including faculty on reassigned time to serve in roles such as Department Chairs or Directors, will be reviewed on those activities
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Media Production or related field plus a minimum of 6 years of related experience; or doctoral degree in relevant field
Preferred Qualifications
- Current and relevant experience in the use of digital media, video formats and editing software and other technology that relates to the video production field
- Ability to teach the following courses: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Production; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Video Editing, Script Writing, Audio Production, Introduction to Media Production, and Social Documentary (for course descriptions refer to https://catalog.msudenver.edu/index.php )
- Two years teaching in higher education in a relevant field
- Demonstrated writing skills in the discipline
- Experience in relevant course development
- 7 or more years of successful professional experience writing, producing and editing video programs for industry, broadcast, government media agencies, production houses or other relevant fields
- Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in video production, editing and writing in the form of awards from juried or adjudicated film and video festivals or awards from other professional organizations such as the Emmys
- The ability to use appropriate educational technology
- Experience with non-traditional students and diverse urban groups
- In particular, we seek candidates who demonstrate the ability to teach from a perspective that includes women and historically minoritized and marginalized groups
