The Program and Student Services Advisor II – Professional Studies reports to the Director of the Office of Advising and Student Information Services (OASIS) within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management/Rowan Global. The Program and Student Services Advisor II – Professional Studies facilitates the Division’s enrollment, retention, and graduation goals for Rowan Global programs. The Program and Student Services Advisor II – Professional Studies will also provide academic advising, student services support, and program support to students in the School of Professional Studies. Initial on-site assignment will be to the Glassboro, Camden, Mt. Laurel, Sewell, or Vineland campus, with flexibility possible in terms of daily schedule and work location(s). The primary office location and responsibilities associated with the position are subject to change as programs offered through Rowan Global continue to expand and evolve.

General Duties (Program and Student Services Advisor II):
  • Serve as a team lead within OASIS, providing guidance and assistance to Program and Student Services Advisors III and IV and other staff members, as needed, in support of students in Rowan Global degree and/or certificate programs.
  • Serve as liaison to the Department Chair(s)/Head(s) and other administrative personnel, as appropriate, for assigned program(s).
  • Produce and utilize timely and accurate application, matriculation, and enrollment reports for assigned programs.
  • Review and approve graduation applications, as determined by the Director in agreement with academic departments, and/or support that process.
  • Assist with identifying and supporting students in academic jeopardy (i.e., probation, warning, dismissal) in coordination with the academic departments and related University offices.
  • Review and address problematic student issues; escalate to the Director, when appropriate.
  • Advise students about academic requirements and selection of courses and provide life stage-appropriate career advising and/or referrals to career advancement resources.
  • Stay abreast of institutional information including admissions requirements, academic programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities, updates in college-wide initiatives, and state and federal mandates.
  • Understand the institution’s interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, families, students, etc., and visa requirements for international students.
  • Review and interpret placement and other standardized test scores, unofficial transcripts, prior learning assessment measures, and/or course prerequisites, as necessary to provide appropriate assistance to students and academic departments.
  • Provide students, faculty, and/or staff with appropriate guidance on relevant institutional policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records (including electronic notes) of interactions with students.
  • Refer students to the appropriate specialized staff for services such as tutoring, testing, counseling, disability resources, financial aid, study abroad, etc.
  • Participate in student information sessions, open houses, etc., for prospective and newly admitted students, in partnership with Admissions staff, Rowan faculty, and/or other OASIS advisors.
  • Participate in melt initiatives for OASIS, including outreach to and consistent engagement with newly matriculated students, and improving onboarding processes and student communication plans.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives to unregistered students, including text, phone, and email campaigns and virtual registration assistance sessions.
  • In coordination with other OASIS staff, develop/expand virtual resources to support student success, including but not limited to synchronous and asynchronous events, social media, and web- and print-based materials.
  • Pursue professional development activities, including but not limited to maintaining membership(s) in professional organizations; attending conferences and workshops; participating in technology training sessions (e.g., Banner, Starfish, DegreeWorks, Slate, etc.); and engaging in University-sponsored professional development activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of professional competencies as outlined by NACADA and related professional organizations (NAGAP, NASPA, AACRAO, etc.)
  • Travel to other campuses or organizations for daytime, evening, and/or weekend events, may be frequently required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Specific Duties (Program and Student Services Advisor II – Professional Studies):
  • Initiates recruitment initiatives in conjunction with School of Professional Studies leadership, academic departments, and Admissions and Marketing teams.
  • Monitors the course and program development curricular processes and supports the launch of new academic offerings.
  • Works in conjunction with recruitment and retention offices to identify new non-traditional student populations (i.e. working professionals, career certificate holders, vocational graduates, etc.) seeking targeted academic programs.
  • Assists in the development of policies and protocols for prior learning assessment and participates in workforce development career counseling initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree (preferably in Higher Education, Counseling in Education Settings, Student Personnel Services, or another field relevant to the position).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in an institution of higher education or in another field that is directly related to the functions of the position to be filled.
  • Experience developing recruitment initiatives across diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, program implementation, and workforce development career counseling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in academic advising or a related discipline.
  • Experience as an online academic advisor and/or instructor at the college level; experience with adult learners highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the needs and requirements of international students and/or military-affiliated students.
  • Understanding of current trends and evolving markets in higher education.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in NACADA Advising Core Competencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Admissions CRMs (e.g., Slate), and student information systems (e.g, Banner, Colleague); data management and interpretation skills are highly valued.
  • Outstanding written and oral presentation skills; fluency in language(s) other than English is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
