Essential Functions (Job Duties):

The Neuroimaging and Neurorehabilitation Laboratory (NNL)

a) studies the influence of cognitive function on motor performance in persons with neurological disorders;

b) uses technology (e.g., ecological momentary assessment, wearable sensors, MRI, fNIRS, virtual reality)to enhance the investigation of pathology and symptoms in neurological disorders; and

c) investigates novel rehabilitation interventions for persons with neurological disorders.

The postdoctoral fellow will join ongoing projects with the opportunity for independent research.

Additionally, fellow will:

Mentor and supervise junior students and staff

Assist Faculty Mentor with grant writing

Maintain regular communication on project status with Faculty Mentor and other staff and trainees

Assist the Faculty Mentor in designing protocols

Present at scientific meetings

Participate in mentored grant writing

Lead in the design and management and research programs

Network and receive training for independent research careers within or outside of academia

Assist in writing research papers

Unique Duties:

This position is for a National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) Funded Postdoctoral Fellow in Rehabilitation Research. The candidate should have a long-term goal of rehabilitation research in multiple sclerosis

Qualifications:

Position will require full time, 2-year commitment.

A Ph.D. in rehabilitation science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related field is required.

The candidate must also bring strong skills in project management, ethical conduct of research, quantitative data analysis, data management, and scientific writing.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Able to maintain a friendly and approachable manner. Able to work effectively in teams.

Self-starter, independent thinker, highly motivated, superior planning and organizing skills. Must possess high level problem-solving skills and be proficient at multi-tasking. Must be able to meet deadlines.

Preference will be given to individuals who are eligible for Physical Therapy licensure in the state of Michigan.

Clinical experience working with individuals with neurological disorders is preferred.

Applicants with first-authored publications and/or grant-writing experience will be given priority.
