We are searching for an experienced Director of Administrative Applications 046770 at our Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):
Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Applications, the Director, Administrative Applications is responsible for all software and applications that support all administrative functions of the university. This includes student, finance, payroll, HR, financial aid, alumni, development, recruitment, enrollment management, purchasing, research and other administrative services. Manage a team of integrators, programmers, technical analysts, business analysts, advisors and project leaders.
Provide overall leadership and direction to staff. Assign employees to projects and direct their activities. Set expectations and focus, assign duties, delegate responsibilities, evaluate activities, prepare performance appraisals and professional development plans. Manage the administrative process for assigned staff including hiring, promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and salary adjustments. Provide ongoing performance feedback, goal setting, and development plans for staff. Plan for future staffing needs. Provide timely communications to staff. Develop budget recommendations. Monitor expenditures of budgeted funds.
Work with campus leaders, including business and functional areas to understand their strategy and define application and business-related requirements. Collaborate with campus leaders throughout the University to help plan the direction of administrative systems technologies.
Ensure effective and reliable design, implementation and maintenance of administrative environments to meet University needs. Project short and long-term requirements for application administration in conjunction with other Computing & Information Technology managers and business function owners.
Drive the design and implementation of administrative system configurations. Coordinate and manage the release schedule and work with other stakeholders to monitor integrations and other system dependencies. Oversee and resolve escalated issues.
Manage vendor relationships and assist in licensing negotiations for all software and services agreements under their auspices.
Consult on a variety of information technology services to provide solutions that are scalable, efficient, secure, and highly available to meet current and future University needs. Communicate and coordinate with other information technology professionals, business/function leaders to ensure appropriate integration of processes.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business information technology, information systems or related field. Advanced degree is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 8 years experience in a technology environment with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities is required. Recent IT management experience. Extensive experience with enterprise software solutions. Previous database administration, systems administration or related experience. Higher education or experience working in similarly sized and complex organizations is preferred. Experience managing software development staff required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to motivate teams for high performance, resolve conflicts and balance resources. Ability to maintain supportive relationships with peers, clients, and partners. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Database administration skills ? Oracle and/or SQL server. Understanding of ERP systems. Competency in all areas of enterprise systems administration in an IT environment including the ability to organize, manage, coordinate, and implement technology solutions. Demonstrated skill in developing automated business solutions.
