Medical Laboratory Science Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator

The Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences in the Wates College of Health Professions invites applications and nominations for the position of Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator.

Founded in 1906, Georgia Southern University is a Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution with a focus on public-impact research, serving nearly 26,000 students on three beautiful campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, and Hinesville, and via a growing online program. Through our degree offerings at the associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels, Georgia Southern offers a distinctive combination of community collaboration, world-class scholarship, innovative teaching, and hands-on learning opportunities.

To equitably serve a fast growing and highly diverse student body and to fulfill the University's commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, we actively seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to Inclusive Excellence. Candidates whose work furthers the institution's goals and who bring to campus varied life experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Within this setting, the program offers four undergraduate tracks. The traditional Medical Laboratory Science degree program track is well-suited to entering freshmen, transfer students and students with a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related science field. In addition to the traditional track, Georgia Southern offers three online degree-completion options for students. The Medical Laboratory Science Online South Carolina Fast-Track is available to South Carolina residents who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field. The Medical Laboratory Science Post Baccalaureate Online Fast-Track is available to students who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology or chemistry and are currently employed by an approved hospital laboratory. Additionally, the online Career-Ladder track enables certified medical laboratory technicians (MLT) to advance their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science.

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program's purpose is to provide the MLS students with academic preparation and clinical experiences required to enter the workforce as a competent, professional entry-level medical laboratory scientist. The program's goal is to provide students with a high quality academic and professional environment through the use of didactic and instructional course work, student practice laboratories on campus, and clinical rotations in qualified hospital clinical laboratories, which allow for the development of intellectual and manipulative competencies and attainment of professional values characteristic of a medical laboratory scientist.
