University of Washington Bothell currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Full Time Custodian Lead (Events & Moves Specialist).

Work Shift - Monday-Thursday, 5 am – 3.30pm (4-10’s).

This individual will, lead custodians and other assigned personnel, and perform work required for all campus events, and all campus related furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies moves. They will also lead custodians and other assigned personnel, and perform work required to maintain cleanliness and care of all campus facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs all event, material moving, and custodial related tasks, and directs, assigns, instructs, and checks the work of others.
• Coordinate and work with other Leads for support and scheduling of staff as needed to ensure that all duties are completed as required;
• Contact, communicate, listen and meet with Event Coordinators and other customers as needed to clarify and review any events, moves and any other assigned work as required;
• Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding assigned duties;
• Perform related custodial duties as required, including, but not limited to: high interior/exterior window washing and building cleaning (above 10 feet), pressure washing, blowing and any other campus related cleaning tasks.
• Secure building when facilities are not in use and/or as duties required by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants or other suspicious activity;
• Report status and condition of assigned areas to supervisor; may assist supervisor with performance evaluations;
• Instruct custodial employees in proper safety practices; monitor safety practices; comply with safety policies and procedures in emergencies such as fire and medical;
• Distribute custodial equipment and supplies; monitor the use and care of assigned equipment and supplies;
• Initiate work orders for repairs or other required maintenance as needed to appropriate contacts;
• Use electronic email/calendaring and Work Order program/system in order to effectively communicate with customers/campus staff and to assign work to-self/others and modify work orders as needed;
• Load, drive and unload trucks and/or other university vehicles as duties require;
• Operate pallet jacks, lift-gates, hand trucks, lifts (manual or powered), carts, sleds and any other equipment or machinery required to safely move and/or transport furniture, equipment, materials or supplies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Physical ability to do required work AND one year of experience as a Custodian, or equivalent
OR
equivalent education/experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
• Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemical, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.

DESIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D or equivalent certified education level.
• Experience as a custodian lead, or higher level custodial position within a commercial, institutional, or educational cleaning operation;
• Experience with loading, driving and unloading of trucks.
• Experience with event set-ups and furniture moves.
• Experience performing window washing and/or other high work above 10 feet.
• Experience using email, electronic calendaring, and electronic work order systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work Shift - Monday-Thursday, 5 am – 3.30pm (4-10’s).
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
• Ability to secure valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certificate within six months of hire.
• This position is designated as one that performs an essential function. This means that the position’s incumbent must continue to report to work as directed in the event that the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency condition.
